In rural areas there are more than enough doggos roaming around with no home and no help. But each one's origin story is quite different. Some are dumped, some run away and some are strays. Which makes it incredibly difficult to understand what kind of doggo you are looking at when they approach you out there. A fact which is very much backed up by this story in which a suspected dumped doggo turned up on a doorstep, and after his adoption his true origins were revealed.

Now obviously there are no spoilers here as you have read the title of this story and know that the surprise that was awaiting the pawrents of this pup came to light when they wondered to themselves 'What breed is my pup'? Upon asking, they did a doggy DNA test which showed that the puppy they had been harboring is actually mainly made up of basset hound DNA. A fact which made it easy to connect the dots between this puppy and a local hound who was well known to the community. Making it more likely that this puppy was actually one of her descendents and not dumped as previously thought.

But the true point of this story is not the confusion about dumping or not. It is the courage that this canine showed, to choose the life of a hooman's doggo. To take his fate into his own paws, stray from his family and ask to be taken into a hooman's.

Goodness, you have to love how sweet and relatively casual this whole thing is. Judging by how relaxed this poster’s tone is, we can only imagine that this is not the first time that a dog has been dumped at his mother’s house. And heck, it is likely how his mother got the three dogs she has today. Which would have also made her son really want a pup delivered in a similar fashion. And for all the bad that dumping does, you have to take a step back a moment and just thank the universe that somehow of all the places to abandon a dog, they chose to do it in front of someone’s house who cares and can immediately make the pup feel at home and safe.

Ok well, that was quite the unexpected turn of events but it does go someway to at least partially explaining how in the heck all of this came to be. And at that it adds a whole different element of sweetness to the story. To know that this is a tale of a stray puppy choosing the hooman life, deciding one day to turn up at hooman’s home in the hopes that they will understand that he has chosen to live amongst us and take him in. that takes true guts, passion and heart.
